What a long winter it was! Between our snow in January, the flu in Jan/Feb, and then a husband working about 5 weeks straight with no days off – I was pretty much worthless the first three months of the year. We are slowly picking up speed in 2011 at CKP. A new pricing structure is in the works, so be on the look out for that. Now, back to our regular blog programming -

The mother of this little princess contacted me about a session for her newly adopted daughter. I won’t go into the details of this precious little girl’s story, but I will say – I thank God there are people out there in the world like her parents. Melissa and Ray – I can’t put it any other way, but you guys ROCK!

This was actually my second Celebrating Adoption session with this family. And – there will be another one in the foreseeable future! This family recently received word that another little one will be joining their family!

I really think I had more fun shooting this session than this little girl did wearing her fantabulous costume! We had an absolutely wonderful afternoon – the weather was perfect, the light was just right, everything came together just as it should – even if we had to find a backup location quickly (of course there would be a wedding at Shuford Memorial Garden on a beautiful Saturday evening in October!).

I may go overboard on this sneak peek, but this is not your ordinary portrait session, or little girl, for that matter! She has spent a long, hard year battling leukemia, and she just recently received word that she is ready to move on to her next phase of treatment! Hooray!

In honor and remembrance of all who lost their lives on 9/11, and all those whose lives were forever changed -

Do not let the evil tragedy of that day 8 years ago win out. Help Catherine Keene Photography assist our brave servicemen and women by donating a shoebox filled with toys, school supplies, clothing – what ever you can fit – to the people of Afghanistan. Your shoe boxes will be mailed to a family friend who is currently stationed in Afghanistan and he will distribute to the Afghanistan people near his base. Help our military develop a trusting relationship with the people of Afghanistan.

Last weekend, I made the trek to Raleigh to walk in the MS Walk with Team-B Patrol. But before the walk, I got to return to some old stomping grounds at the NC State University campus for a session Friday night. I’m glad we decided on the location – it really worked out well, especially with so many of the flowers still in bloom. This little one had a good time exploring her mom’s alma mater. And, despite the unseasonable April heat, we survived – and I returned with some great images! Here are a few sneaks…

A crazy little thing called…

… did you think I was going to type LOVE? I was going to type “two girls under the age of 2 who are very close in age!” This picture shows some of the chaos of the day. We started out trying to use Jetton Park but horrible Cornelius traffic kept us away. Then we tried another park, but it was just too hot and the playground equipment was too distracting. We ended up going back to their house and completed the session indoors in the comfort of some nice A/C. I had such a fun time coming over to play with these little cuties and their parents. This was the first of my two Celebrating Adoption sessions this weekend. It is so heartwarming to see how much love adoptive families have for one another. Love knows no bounds, especially when it comes to loving a child (or two!).
