Can you believe it? It is already Wednesday. My week is flying by…

Today’s what to wear is geared to a family – since this is the season of family photography. You will notice, brown shows up in many of the fall what to wear guides, because it is flattering on so many people and it complements many other colors as well! Don’t shy away from brown, especially when accenting it with other colors that are bolder. Today’s outfits are from oldnavy.com (man, woman, older daughter) and from hannaandersson.com. Yup – it’s time to start up the What to Wear guides for fall 2010. Cool weather has finally made an appearance here in the Carolinas – and here is a colorful combination using the hues of falls – browns, bright oranges, and deep magentas. All clothing in this look can be found at several of the GAP, Inc family of stores – GAP, Old Navy, and Piperlime.

It’s time for family portraits – which means it is time to stress over what to wear! Most families make clothing selections for their portraits harder than it has to be. Make it simple by picking a pair of coordinating colors, and work your outfits out around that. Don’t be afraid to use a subtle pattern, and don’t be afraid to have members of the family wear different colored shirts!

Below is a really simple idea of color coordinating (all of these clothes are available from the GAP, Inc. stores):

This is very basic – and you can expand upon these ideas. Pick colors that work well with your family and don’t be afraid to step away from “matchy-matchy” blue jeans/khakis and white shirts. Have some fun and mix up your colors. The one simple rule I have for family portraits – DON’T CLASH!

I’m starting a new thing for Wednesdays… What To Wear Wednesday! I know it is STRESSFUL selecting clothing for your child’s photo session. I’m going to help out my readers by posting clothing suggestions every Wednesday. Each week I will try to do a different age group – this week’s featured age group is toddlers! And clothing choices are from babyGAP.

For little girls, I am loving the bright happy colors and the lovely flowing tops. Cute sandals are out there to be had too this year. I still adore bare feet, but sometimes I know that is not practical, so I’ve included some footwear options as well.

For little boys – comfort is KEY! Toddler boys are usually so active, they need clothes that are comfortable to wear and reflect their boisterous personalities. Here are a few outfits I put together – and most everything is on sale this week too! I love layers – the hoodie layered on top of the yellow polo would be awesome and it’s a great way to do a wardrobe change (which I do allow at my sessions!) without totally changing clothes. And those slip on Converse are rockin’!
