Below is a really simple idea of color coordinating (all of these clothes are available from the GAP, Inc. stores):

This is very basic – and you can expand upon these ideas.  Pick colors that work well with your family and don’t be afraid to step away from “matchy-matchy” blue jeans/khakis and white shirts.  Have some fun and mix up your colors.  The one simple rule I have for family portraits – DON’T CLASH!  :)

I know it is STRESSFUL selecting clothing for your child’s photo session. I’m going to help out my readers by posting clothing suggestions every Wednesday. Each week I will try to do a different age group – this week’s featured age group is toddlers! And clothing choices are from babyGAP.

For little girls, I am loving the bright happy colors and the lovely flowing tops. Cute sandals are out there to be had too this year. I still adore bare feet, but sometimes I know that is not practical, so I’ve included some footwear options as well.

For little boys – comfort is KEY!  Toddler boys are usually so active, they need clothes that are comfortable to wear and reflect their boisterous personalities.  Here are a few outfits I put together – and most everything is on sale this week too! ;)   I love layers – the hoodie layered on top of the yellow polo would be awesome and it’s a great way to do a wardrobe change (which I do allow at my sessions!) without totally changing clothes.   And those slip on Converse are rockin’!
